Fergal & Jen Spillane

Inveraray Farm has been the Spillane family home for half a century. Originally built by Eileen and Noel Spillane, it is where they raised their family of five children. Their son Fergal and wife, Jen, now host and manage the B&B. They returned from Australia in 2018 with their own three children. There is an adorable corgi called Louie, and a new Spingador puppy called Bruno. They also keep several cows their calves at the farm.

Jen and Fergal outstanding hosts. Comfy and clean rooms. Breakfast was outstanding. Jen and Fergal were very helpful and informative of places to go and things to do. Definitely take the Killarney Distillery Tour and stay for dinner. Superb!

Inveraray Farm was so great. Ours host were accommodating and kind. Breakfast delicious, rooms clean and comfy. We loved having access to a kitchen and sitting area. This part of Ireland could not be any more beautiful and central to so much. I would love to return.

Attraktionen der Umgebung

Bird-watching: Beaufort is an ideal location for bird-watching and our own garden has a variety of birds including blue tits, finches, robins and wagtails. You may see white-tailed Eagles which were reintroduced to Killarney National Park.
Cycling: You'll always see plenty of cyclists on the roads in Kerry and each summer there's the Ring of Kerry cycle. There are lots of reasonably flat routes around Beaufort as well as more challenging hills such as cycling through the Gap of Dunloe. Bikes can be rented locally. We can arrange this for you or you can bring your own bikes. Safe storage is available.
Gap of Dunloe Tour: This is one of the most popular tours for our guests and one we're happy to arrange. Take a boat trip across the Killarney Lakes to Lord Brandon's Cottage and then take a Jaunting Car (pony and trap) through the Gap to Kate Kearney's Cottage (or vice versa). If you don't want to get the jaunting car back down you can always cycle or walk.
Golfing: Kerry is well-known for it's fine selection of golf courses with stunning views. Some of these are right on our doorstep including Beaufort, Killarney, and Dooks. Others are an easy drive from our guesthouse.
Hiking and mountain climbing: We are located close to Ireland's 3 highest peaks including Carrauntoohil so there's plenty of opportunity to view Ireland from above. Guided ascents can be arranged for less experienced climbers. Strickeen is the closest climb to the guesthouse and is suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Great for those who want the views without too much exertion.
Horse-Riding: There are plenty of trails around if you are into horse and pony riding. Killarney Riding Stables are a short drive away and there is also horse riding available on the road to Glencar.
Local pubs and restaurants: There are a number of options for eating and drinking in Beaufort. Beaufort Bar offers both restaurant dining and bar food and is well known for it's selection of whisky (5 minute walk). The Inn Between Pub serves a traditional Sunday Roast (10 minute walk). The Dunloe Hotel has both a cafe and a fine dining restaurant (15 minute walk). Heather at Moriarty's at The Gap serves delicious breakfasts, brunch or late lunch (5 minute drive). Kate Kearney's Cottage serves very-reasonably priced and tasty food from lunchtime until 8 or 9pm and also has live music most nights (5 minute drive).
Photography: Whether you're a professional photographer or you like taking snaps on your phone, Beaufort is a limitless source of beauty and inspiration. Regardless of the weather or the time of year you can't help but capture something worth framing.
Scenic Drives: Inveraray Farm is the ideal location to base yourself to explore the west of Ireland by car. There are a number of popular drive such as the Ring of Kerry or Wild Atlantic Way as well as hidden gems and roads less travelled. All of these are easy half day or full day trips that will take in most of Kerry's highlights.
Shopping: Beaufort has a great selection of traditional Irish gifts at both Moriarty's at the Gap of Dunloe and Kate Kearney's Cottage. These are just a 5 minute drive from Inveraray Farm. Kerry Woollen Mills are also nearby. Killarney itself is a bustling shopping town with plenty of options for gifts and general shopping.
surfing: Surfing at Inch 25mins
Walking: There are endless walks around Beaufort and Killarney and the majority of these include breath-taking scenery. Between the Gap of Dunloe, MacGillycuddy's Reeks, Muckross House, Ross Island and Killarney National Park you'll be spoilt for choice. We're also close to the Kerry Way for those who want to do longer walks.
