Kenmare House

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Kenmare. Fionnuala was so pleasant, she made us feel right at home. Our room was lovely, I really appreciated the bathtub and the king sized bed! Breakfast was great,the bread was amazing! Fionnuala was so kind and helpful. She told us all about the town and what we should look for. She also gave us great advice on which roads we should take to get to Kilkenney as we were still getting used to driving on the left! We would love to return to Kenmare and Kenmare House.

My family of 4 stayed at Kenmare House for 2 nights. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also very spacious unlike other b&bs that we stayed at. I really appreciated that the hosts reached out to me by email prior to the visit to confirm our booking and give us the details. The breakfast was delicious and catered to everyone’s taste. The walk to town was easy and it was nice to have a break from driving. The travel suggestions that Danny gave us were great and made our trip so much more enjoyable. Overall it was a great experience for us.

Our stay at Kenmare House was most enjoyable. The breakfast food was very good, accommodations were pleasant, and our host, Danny, was friendly and helpful.

My sister and I were booked to stay here for 3 nights but only stayed one as we felt super uncomfortable here - we ended up paying to stay at another nearby location for the other 2 nights. We did not meet the host, Danny, only Finnoula, who does not smile. We felt as it we were a nuisance, not a paying guest. She was not very welcoming at all. Also, when we stated we would not be awake in time for breakfast and asked if there was some bread or something small she might leave out for us, she stated very matter of factly that breakfast ended at 9:30; one of the reasons we had chosen a B&B over a hotel was for some flexibility -- not a hot breakfast after hours, just a roll with butter maybe left out -- nope, not here. There is also a bell they want you to ring if you need something and it is hugely loud and makes you feel as if you are disturbing the entire home (because you are). The one common room was small and uncomfortable; the whole house was musty. I did give 4 stars below to note the excellent location; extremely walkable to town, and to note that when we asked for some things (ice, a plate and knife, wine opener), Finnoula got them to us right away, although with no smile and made us feel like we were bothering her. We would not recommend this B&B. We stayed in 2 other B&'s while in Ireland with very friendly and accommodating hosts.

Our family enjoyed our stay at Kenmare House. Our triple was very spacious, bright and clean. Minor issue with the lock on room occupied by my son/wife, although can be easily fixed. Issue with internet was immediately resolved. Both our host and hostess were very accomdodating, and breakfast was terrific. Easy walk via pedestrain path to town center. All and all, a great B&B.
